Construction for The Woodlands Lodge was begun in 1928 with the majority
of the building completed in 1932. After setting up a mill at the
Lodge site, the building was built using the old growth timber
available. The Lodge faces south with the facade and front lawn
in sunshine for most of the day.
Woodlands Lodge is 5600 square feet of interior living space.
The Main floor contains a Billiards Room, Games Room, Sun Room,
Dining Room, Bedroom with ensuite, Grand Room, and Kitchen with
pantry. The upper floor consists of a large bathroom, 2 bedrooms with
ensuites,
Early patrons
2 bedrooms without ensuites, a children's bedroom that sleeps 5 and a
computer nook with desk.
Today, Woodlands Lodge is situated on 29 wooded acres containing lawned area with trails for hiking and walking aside a beautiful river for canoeing, fishing and swimming. The Lodge is about 6 kilometres up river from the ocean where a whole different set of activities await, including whale watching. As well, many other past times exist close at hand including mountain hiking, mountain lake fly fishing, crabbing, eagle watching and fish watching.
